Spectacular fireworks are now illuminating the winter sky above Lake Kawaguchi, with the first show launching on January 25 at Oike Park. This seasonal event brings color and excitement to the cold winter nights near Mount Fuji.
The annual winter fireworks festival, organized to attract visitors during the off-season, will run every Saturday and Sunday until February 23, which is known as “Mount Fuji Day.” Each show starts at 8:00 PM and lasts about 20 minutes, with fireworks being launched from three locations along the lake’s southern shore. Visitors can also enjoy various food options from food trucks set up around Oike Park.
On the opening night, despite temperatures dropping to -1.3°C (29.7°F), many tourists gathered along the lakeshore. Bundled up in warm clothes, they enjoyed capturing the beautiful display on their smartphones as the fireworks lit up the night sky.
